The impact on reputation, trust, transparency, and accountability is real. The article provides strategies to mitigate these risks for Board members, the Board of Directors, and the appointing municipality. Although the laws and regulations discussed are specific to Ontario, the issues and associated risks are relevant across Canada. These strategies aim to manage risks such as conflicts of interest and political influence.
